Getting close to the end my my trip and stopped by my sisters for a couple of days.

A common sight for many, but a first for me.

July 27, 2015. Arrived home about 11:30 AM. I've been on the road sixty three days and like this momma I'm ready for a little rest. It's been fun to say the least. I've ridden 11,989 miles of what I thought was going to be a 12,000 mile trip. I even thought about riding the extra eleven just to say it was, but then it would have been faking it.......not me.......well, at least not today. <G> For any of you thinking of making a trip to AK, do it! Ride whatever motorcycle there that you want to. Choose a good 50/50 tire for the trip. I was really impressed with the Mitas E-07 Dakar's on the GS.  I rode my GS and think that is the best choice for this trip, but I could have done it on a Vulcan, Harley,  Goldwing, Shadow, KLR, or even a TW200, just at a slower pace. I plan to do a complete service on my GS and then sell it as I bought it just for this trip. It did perform flawlessly and averaged around 40mpg. I thought that was pretty good. Now I just have to add up what all of this has cost me! Thanks for riding along via my blog, I hope you enjoyed the trip. Lanny

A nice view of Mt. Shasta coming into Weed, CA

I think Hotsauce needs one of these armored BBQ Cruisers

Shasta Lake as low as I have seen it.

Still a lot of people having fun on it.

I like it when it is full better.

I once heard that the original bridge over the river is still under there, but I've never confirmed that.

Party boats going to......

..........and fro.

People just having fun!

This guy likes to chew my toes.

I had a great visit with my sister Eldonna

I said hello to a friend in Carmel then took a few pictures of the coast heading south.

Some of the fishing fleet were working today.

Part of Big Sur State Park

I think Big Sur is the farthest south that the Redwoods grow.

Near San Simeon is a beach where elephant seals breed

They really like to sleep a lot

Every once in a while they kick a little sand on themselves so you at least know they are alive.

There is a crowd like this here every day.

The Crooked River Bridge on Hwy 97 in Terrebonne, OR

It's a long way down there.

This was one of my homes in Bend, OR.

Smith Rock is a popular place for vertical rock wall climbers.

One of the canals that supplies water for irrigation to the farms and ranches.

Located in Terrebonne, OR it is easy access from the highway

A lot of different looks as you ride around it.

Beautiful from every angle

These lava rock walls take a lot of time to build, but the rock is readily available for free.

I would have had one when I lived here if the labor to build it was free.

It's been awhile since I've had one of Charlies famous Mexican Pizzas.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

Riding past this wheat field I resist the urge to pick one of the heads and chew a few of the kernels. I used to do this of the time when I was in my thirties and they still taste just as good.

I was 28 years old when I built this house.

She is still standing true and square 38 years later.

While in Kelso, WA, we all got to enjoy a nice Mexican dinner.

My grandson Steffen and wife Melissa

Their son Jacob

Nice rod in the parking lot.

It seems like just after saying hello, we are saying good bye

I stopped by my Uncle Norm's and Aunt Joans but forgot to take a picture. However after leaving their place I stopped at Lewisville Park where Norm lost the love of his life when swinging from a rope tied to this gigantuan tree, she pulled the tree and herself into the water never to return! So sad. :)

From there I took the scenic route to Yakima via Mt. St. Helens. That's all of her that I got to see.

However, there were still some pretty views like this one of Rimrock Lake

I haven't seen my granddaughter Patience since she was 16

I rode up to Wenatche to visit her as well as meet her boyfriend.

She wanted to see if her feet would touch the ground

Only one and only if the bike is on it's stand. Still, we had a short but great visit. I got to wish her happy birthday in advance as she will turn 19 in less than a month.

Rock Island Dam just below the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers.

The mighty Columbia River

I'm guessing this is about 2/3 of the distance from it's source in Canada to where it empties into the Pacific.

Thought Z-mean one might light the stallion silhouettes along this ridge.

I've ridden past a lot of my old homes that I have lived in on this trip. This was my home when I was living in Yakima, WA.

One of my neighbors was a stone mason and he built his home, his dog house, and his garage from river rock. He also love VW's as well as what ever kind of dog is driving this thing. This is discretely built into the front of his garage.

This is the factory that sucked the life out of me from 1996 until 2002.

Bridge over the Columbia River at Biggs Jct. OR. I'm staying there tonight.
