For those of you that think Arizona is all desert, I rode through about a hundred miles of this today from south of Payson to just short of Holbrook. |
It was 100+ at home, but very nice up here. |
I decided to ride through the Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert. At the junction is this gift shop where you can buy petrified wood that was harvested before it became a park. |
Judging from the size of these specimens I suspect there has been a little climate change in the last 5 or 6 years. |
I won't caption too many of these pics unless I deem it necessary. :) |
Picture of the plaque showing the rock with hieroglyphs. |
Actual rock |
I think she came straight from WalMart |
You know you are about to enter New Mexico when you see these magnificent cliffs. |
I see the Navajo are developing a new subdivision. |
I was a good thing I pulled off into old town Gallup to refuel or I would have been stuck behind this big rig that caught fire. |
The fire truck had to go past this section of the highway and go up an off ramp to access the truck. |
