T

In Whitehorse YT, this is the worlds largest weather vane.

This is an overland train. They used these before regular trains.

This was the living quarters car.

With all of the wild flowers, I almost thought I was in Texax.

Lots of wild roses.

The mighty Yukon River

Five Fingers Rapids. They took the riverboats through the near channel.

I've run out of internet time so I will finish the captions tomorrow night.

These stairs lead down from the highway to the river with a little information plaque at each landing. I read each and every one...............yeah, right!

They did look cool.

This is dredge #4

It's BIG!

It harvested a lot of gold.

These are it's parts

This is where they are located.

Some of the facts

Some more

even more

A few more

enough already

Now you know everything. :) I didn't actually read any of this myself so maybe one of you can tell me all about it when I get home.

The dredge buckets.......

All lined up

We rode up to the top of the dome and took a few pictures. We met a bear on the way up.

View of the Yukon and Dawson City from the dome.

View of Bonanza Creek where Dredge #4 is located.

From this distance it doesn't look too bad, but up close you can see the massive tailing piles it has left behind.

This is a vast, vast, vast land! It just seems to go forever.

Someone built a neat bench here. It was actually very comfortable.

It's a good life!

This was highly recommended by two separate locals as being the best place in town to eat. Personally, it was terrible! Yes, that is terrible with an exclamation mark!

However, we had breakfast here the next day, and it was the best breakfast we have had on the trip.

Dawson City sits right on the Yukon River.

It is an old mining town that is still very active.

I was walking outside and heard what I thought was a player piano. After stepping inside I saw this gentleman playing as well as I have ever heard the keys tickled.

Some of the building have stood the test of time.

Just like this Jeep

Some have been restored like this Masonic Temple

....and some like me...........

......are.......

.......falling apart..........

......but they still have a story to tell.  :)
