Stopping for breakfast in Dawson and all of the parking on the street was taken except for these two spots. hmm.... |
Not sure if they are still in business, but that is a pretty modern casket so they probably are. |
Looks like things are pretty dead around here. |
They still use a ferry to cross the Yukon at this point. |
This is no small river and the current is fast too. |
I didn't do any of that |
This same boat has been running here for 40 years or so. If it breaks, there is now way to cross until it is fixed. No backup boat. |
Looking back at the ferry over my shoulder. Sherm say's he is glad I'm picking on someone else this time. :) |
If I understood the gal correctly, that ramp is the only thing holding this thing to shore while we unload. They do keep the engines running just in case. |
A look back at Dawson from the other side of the Yukon |
A birds eye view of where we ate breakfast this morning. |
The Yukon with Bonanza Creek in the upper portion of the pic. |
Big country |
Still some snow, and quite a bit of rain overnight. |
We are riding that dirt road you can see running along the far hill. |
With the rain it is a little slick so we are taking it easy. |
Tim was setting up his go-pro so I stopped and snap a couple. |
As dirty as she is she still photographs well. |
It is interesting that they send the traffic monitors out on motorcycles. |
Looking down at the border crossing |
From a distance......... |
......and from close up. |
I think the border agents live here. |
We've avoided any visits so far, but just barely. |
Nice |
Yeah! |
First view of Alaska |
We have arrived |
I think these blue bonnets are lost. |
Tim made me stand in the puddle |
Looks like some farm land down there. |
I would probably be doing this if I was up here. |
So many beautiful rivers |
I don't know where the float started, but they were taking out here. |
The first town we came to in AK |
We had a halibut sandwich here below the dog sled and snow shoes. |
Big chickens everywhere in Chicken |
The town only has a population of 30 |
But they have a store, saloon, and Cafe |
Even a dredge |
I see Skid has one of his snowmobiles for sale. |
I think this was his fast one. |
More big chickens |
Where they hold their outdoor concerts |
