On our way to Chitina, AK we stopped by Liberty Falls. Tim took this picture.

The lighting was bad for this picture. There are a lot of people climbing around the falls.

We took a little detour through Copper River and saw all of these campers.

The reds are running. Everyone here seemed to be using fishing poles.

I didn't see too many being caught, but there were a few.

That's a pretty good size one on the cleaning table.

The volunteer Fire Truck for the town of Chitina.

The hotel was full so we are staying at this B&B

The note on the inside says make your own bed, and make your own breakfast.

Cool old building not in use. Price tag of 2 million to fix it up.

Nice view of Chitina town lake from out B&B

This is a very pretty setting as well as the gateway to McCarthy and Kennicott Mine. McCarthy is the Discovery Channels Edge of Alaska show setting.

The road to O'Brian Creek

This is also the Copper River, but it is a different section and everyone here was using these big nets to catch the fish.

They would just put them in upstream and then sort of hold them against the current as they tended to drift downstream. Then they would lift them out. Sometimes they would have a fish in them.

On this area of the river it is called subsistence fishing.

This couple (wife not shown) had fished all day for this half dozen fish. A couple of days ago, they caught 90 fish. Their limit is based on how many people are in their family.

There dogs didn't even notice that the water is cold.

Notice the change where O'Brian creek flows into the glacial water of the Copper River

If you are more than 150' from that road you must posses a special permit.

Just yard art at the moment.

With just a little work you could.............

.................turn it into one of these.
